10 Things that I hope to accomplish in my lifetime and why I am not being realistic.

When I sat down to write my goals for this post, I was surprised by what I discovered about myself.  It’s not something that I think about all of the time, or in so much detail.  I am now convinced that everyone should give their future just a little more thought, and they might also be surprised with what they find out about themselves.

I have realized that a passion of mine is business development as well as building a platform for myself.  That was about as far as I ever thought about it.

Now that I am digging deeper, it looks like I am going to be doing a ton of writing, lots of traveling, and some really amazing things in my future.

This simple task of goal setting turned out to be a more difficult exercise than I had anticipated.  I was struggling with raising my sights to greater targets.  My first list seemed too easy and I wasn’t pushing myself much past reality.

I decided that if I am going to make an ultimate goal list, or a bucket list, then I am going to shoot for the f***ing stars.  That way if I fall a little short and do not complete them all, then who cares?!  The ones that I do check off will be pretty damn amazing.  This is no time to be realistic based on what everyone (including myself) thinks is possible.

Here is my list of some of the things that I hope to accomplish in my lifetime.  No justifications, and no explanations.

  1. Start a Charitable Organization
  2. Write a new york times best seller
  3. Learn another language
  4. Make $30,000 in one month
  5. Build a passive income stream of $5000 per month
  6. Build my parents a house
  7. Stay in another country for at least a month
  8. Co-write lyrics to a top ten musical hit
  9. Self publish a fiction book
  10. Be a millionaire

Will I complete this list?  Maybe, maybe not… but I am going to try.  I am not going to share with you my list before I started thinking bigger!

Push yourself to be a little “unrealistic” because who says we have to stick to the paved road in front of us?  Create your own path.  You may not know where you will end up, but you get to choose the direction.

I would love to hear your goals.  What’s your goal setting bucket list?

  • Brother, I heel you on these goals. These are what I like to call Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG) and you need them in life. If you don’t frame the future you want, then you can’t build an approach to get you there. By choosing goals like these, you are shooting for the stars, and in worse case, you land on the moon. Keep at em and I am looking forward to what you achieve!

I like the BHAG approach! I might use that haha! I have realized lately that if I achieve what I set out to do too easily then I didn’t aim high enough. Start out with high level goals or BHAG’s and then break them down into actionable steps starting with today. Thanks for following along!
